AMPI 2008 Conference and Annual General Meeting
By John K. Glaab, CIPS
CONFERENCE 2008
The Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI) will hold its 2008 Conference and Annual General Meeting in the Mayan Riviera. Dates for the event are November 19 to 23rd.
It will be a truly international conference and include a Trade Show. One of the highlights will be a session with economist John Tucillo and appraiser Bruce Greenberg from Arizona discussing the U.S. recession and its affect on Mexico’s real estate markets. John is the former Chief Economist for the National Association of Realtors® (NAR). It has been my pleasure to hear John several times. He has a gifted a sense of humour, not common among economists. Bruce is a member of the Arizona/Sonora Commission.
Round tables and educational classes will be held for networking with AMPI counterparts from Latin America, Canada and Europe. Panel discussions are being planned to discuss real estate issues on both sides of the border.
At its Annual General Meeting, AMPI will hold elections and appoint members to its National Advisory Board. Medals of honour will also be presented. Last year the Gold medal went to Norma Figueroa form Hermosillo. She was recognized for her efforts in establishing licensing in the state of Sonora.
